Sou Laxmibai English Medium School celebrated 'The International Yoga Day' on June 21st following the theme "Yoga for Health and Humanity ". The President of the school Honourable Mr. Prasad Kulkarni Sir , Who is always at the forefront to ensure the best for the students, initiated this maiden event, at the start of the academic year!
After almost 3 long years of students’ isolation from schools,This event held great significance, as to take the students from obesity to fitness, distractions to concentration, social networking to physical health and happiness.
”The most important & popular tool for managing all these under one umbrella cover is of course’Yoga “ , Said Mr Prasad Kulkarni.
The school specially invited the renowned Yoga therapist Mr. Harshad Nere, known for his 'Deep Yoga', Yoga on ice slabs' and 'Power Yoga' and he rightly elevated the celebration being the distinguished chief guest. The session was conducted by him for the students of 9th and 10th ,to enhance concentration and focus and to ensure flexibility and immunity, particularly enhance lung capacity and it served as an eye opener to overcome stress and obesity caused due to the sedentary lifestyle in the course of the COVID pandemic. The school trustee Mr. Abhishek kulkarni applauded & emphasised on the power of yoga for better living in his address .Mrs Pooja Kulkarni coordinated the entire program & mentioned, "The pandemic has caused significant mental, physical and emotional strife to many and practicing yoga is the holistic approach to gain back our physical and mental health." Secondary section Headmistress, Mrs Pradnya Rajopadhye, envisaged the benefits of Yoga and created awareness among the students.
The celebration extended further with students from V to VIII practising various Yoga Asanas, SuryaNamaskar, Pranayama and meditation and ended with students taking a pledge to practice yoga in their everyday life, as a lifestyle!
The program was hosted by Mrs Harshada Pande and was ably supported by the entire Teaching & Non-Teaching staff.
